Man Found Dead in Burning Vehicle

Body not yet identified

SUITLAND, Md. -- The body of a man was found in the passenger seat of a burning vehicle in Suitland, Prince George's County police said.

Firefighters were called to the 2500 block of Darel Drive around 1 a.m. Sunday for a vehicle fire.

After firefighters put out the flames, police spokesman Officer Henry Tippett said they found the man's body.

The body had not been identified Sunday afternoon and Tippett said the body was so badly burned that detectives are waiting for an autopsy to determine whether the man was shot or stabbed before the fire started.

The case was classified as a death investigation, but Tippett said considering the suspicious circumstances it seems likely the death will soon be classified as a homicide.
