A man and woman were killed in a shooting in Capitol Heights, Maryland, early Wednesday morning.

A relative called 911 just after 3 a.m. to report two people had been shot inside a home on the 4700 block of Omaha Street. When officers arrived, they found 64-year-old Dan Leake and 62-year-old Wilhelmina Lake suffering from gunshot wounds.

Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

Their deaths are being investigated as a double homicide, police said. They do not believe it was a random crime.

No additional information has been released.

Leake retired from D.C. Fire and EMS about 18 months. He held a civilian position there as a general foreman in fleet maintenance.

Anyone with information about this shooting is asked to call police at 1-866-411-TIPS.
