Man Hit by Metro Train After Falling Onto Tracks

Incident remains under investigation

A 48-year-old Rockville man remains in critical condition at an area hospital after he fell to the tracks and was struck by a Red Line train, Metro officials said.

The preliminary investigation indicates that the man was standing at the edge of the platform at Gallery Place-Chinatown on Sunday morning and accidentally tumbled onto the tracks as the train pulled into the station, according to Metro officials. The man was not
identified.

The man was conscious when he was taken off the tracks and was taken to a local hospital for evaluation, according to D.C. Fire & Rescue.

Both the Gallery Place and Judiciary Square Metro stations were temporarily closed while police investigated what happened.
