Another Man Struck, Killed by Metro Train

Second fatality on tracks in less than a week

In the second fatality by train in less than two days, a man was struck and killed by a train at the East Falls Church Metro station early Sunday morning.

The accident happened on the Orange Line at 1:54 a.m.  The train was going to New Carrollton; Metro was single tracking from Vienna to East Falls Church at the time.

The victim is assumed to be an adult.  Police are still trying to figure out how the man got on the tracks.

On Friday, Metrobus driver Kurtland Johnson was hit and killed by a Blue Line train at the McPherson Square Metro station.  Eyewitnesses at the station said Johnson intentionally stepped in front of the train.

Trains between Vienna/Fairfax-GMU and West Falls Church-VT/UVA are currently sharing the same track due to scheduled maintenance, but the rest of the line is running as normal.
