Man Stopped As He Tries to Carry Handgun, Ammunition Onto Flight From Dulles

A Virginia man tried to bring a handgun and 19 rounds of ammunition onto a flight out of Washington Dulles International Airport Thursday, but was stopped by TSA officers, the Transportation Safety Administration said today.

The .380 caliber handgun and the ammunition was in the passenger's carry-on bag.

The man is a resident of Montpelier, Va. and was flying to Charlotte. He was allowed to board his flight, "minus the gun and ammunition," the TSA said in a statement.
