Police: Friendly drink offer precipitated stabbing

Anne Arundel Police have arrested a man who allegedly stabbed another man at a bar in Edgewater early Saturday morning.

Roberto Garcia, 64, of Riva, Md., was charged with attempted murder, first and second degree assault, and other offenses after police say he punched and stabbed a 47-year-old man who offered Garcia a drink.

The stabbing happened at the Londontown Pub at 726 Londontown Road in Edgewater. Investigators say that another bar patron managed to knock down Garcia, whose knife was taken away from him.

The 47-year-old victim, whose name has not been released, was taken to University of Maryland Shock Trauma center with life-threatening injuries. He is listed as being in stable condition.
