Man Sought in Stafford Co. Homicide Investigation

Investigators are searching for a man in connection to a homicide in Stafford County, but details on how the victim died were not being revealed on Monday night.

The Sheriff's Office said a family member found Roberta Dews, 59, dead in her home on Kellogg Mill Road on Sunday. Her van, a tan or gold 1999 Chevy Venture, was also gone.

John Douglass Cornell is charged with stealing the van, and is also wanted for questioning in Dews' death. Investigators say Cornell knew Dews and also had access to her vehicle.

In a press release, the Sheriff's Office said the homicide part of the investigation was too sensitive to release any further details on what happened.

Dews' missing van is described as having a rusty rear hitch attached and Virginia tags with the license plate number JAH-1325.
