Man Shot by Police After Standoff in Prince George's County

Suspect Opened Fire on Police Officers

Prince George's Police have identified a Maryland man who was killed after a brief standoff Friday evening in Aquasco.

Police say they responded to the home of 49-year-old Phillip Boling on the 2100 block of Aquasco Road around six o'clock Friday night. They say Boling had called 911 and threatened to kill himself.

When officers arrived, Boling came out of his front door and fired a single shot. Police say he then went back inside, grabbed two more guns, and started shooting again. An officer returned fire and hit Boling, who later died on his way to the hospital.

Prince George's Police did not release the name of the officer who shot Bolling, but did describe him as an 11-year veteran of the department who has been placed on administrative leave.
