Police looking for minivan

A man was killed and a 5-year-old boy was wounded in a shooting Thursday morning inside a rowhouse full of people, including children, in the 600 block of Kenyon Street Northwest.

Franklin Johnson, 37, was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.  The child was struck once in the shoulder.  He underwent surgery at a local hospital and is expected to survive.

Police have no motive for the shooting or any suspects but said they believe Johnson was targeted. There was no sign of forced entry.

Witnesses said two men were seen running from the home.  One witness said she heard gunshots at about 8:10 a.m.

"They must have used a silencer," she said.  "It was not really loud.  But it was like hitting a stick against a wall.  I heard eight to 10 shots.  Then I heard kids crying."

Franklin Johnson lived in the rowhouse with his fiancée and several children, including some they were taking care of for others.
