Man Shot, Killed in Anacostia Barbershop: Police

A man was shot dead inside a barber shop in D.C.'s Anacostia neighborhood Wednesday afternoon, police say.

Officers rushed inside the New Creation Hair Salon Plus on Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue after hearing gunshots, Metropolitan Police Department Chief Peter Newsham said.

They then found a man, 22-year-old Andre Broadie, inside the barbershop. He had been shot multiple times. Newsham said Broadie, who was from Northeast D.C., died at the scene.

Witnesses told police four men ran away from the scene and went southbound on Martin Luther King Jr. Ave., according to Newsham.

Newsham said detectives are still talking to witnesses and will review video from nearby surveillance cameras.

"For something like this to happen in the middle of the day, it's very brazen. It's very unusual for this particular area," Newsham said.

MPD is currently offering a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone with information that could help them arrest and convict the person or people responsible.
