D.C. Police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man in Petworth early Saturday morning.
The man was found shot in the back by police shortly after 2:00 a.m. in the 500 block of Crittenden Street, Northwest. Investigators initially said that the victim was conscious and breathing when he was taken to a nearby hospital, but his condition later deteriorated, and he was pronounced dead at 2:43 a.m.
No identifying details about the victim have been released.
