Man Gets 22 Years in Death of Woman He Met Online

Gunman, victim met on social networking site Tagged

A 22-year-old D.C. man was sentenced Thursday for the murder of a woman he met on a social networking site.

Alexander Buckley will serve 22 years in prison, U.S. Attorney Ronald C. Machen Jr. announced.

In Jan. 2013, Buckley met 18-year-old Siohban Lee of Takoma Park, Md., on the phone app Tagged. The app allows users to text each other via the Internet, but police said the two eventually started communicating over the phone.

Buckley told Lee to meet him in the area of 5th and Nicholson streets NW during the early morning hours of June 25. When she arrived, Buckley shot her in the head and took her iPhone and iPod Touch.

He was located within hours of the incident.

Buckley pleaded guilty in June 2013 to charges of second degree murder while armed.
