Man Removed From Car in Potomac River at Virginia Marina Dies

A man removed from a car after it went into the Potomac River water at a Virginia marina Friday morning has died, fire officials said. 

A water rescue team with the Arlington County Fire Department was called to the Columbia Island Marina, near the George Washington Parkway. 

They retrieved the man from the water. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition and later died. 

Crews searched for additional victims, but no one was found. Video from the scene showed crews pulling the car from the water. 

It's not clear how the vehicle got into the water.

No additional information has been released.
