A man was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver in Maryland about two hours after his release from jail Thursday evening.
Nathan Frazer, 31, of Stratham, New Hampshire, was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Brown Station Road and Dille Drive near the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections in Upper Marlboro, Prince George’s County police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Frazer had spent the day in jail, according to the Department of Corrections. He arrived at the jail at 1:55 a.m. Thursday and released on personal recognizance at 6:51 p.m. before walking off jail property at 7:14 p.m.
He was struck about 8:50 p.m.
Police have no information about the striking vehicle.
Prince George’s County provides public bus transportation from the jail between 6 a.m. and 6:40 p.m., and van service is available between 6 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. from the jail to the Addison Road Metro Station, according to the Department of Corrections. Recently released inmates can wait in the lobby for a ride or for bus or van service to begin again it they are released after those hours.
Frazer was the third person killed in a hit-and-run in the county in nine days.
