Man Gets 75 Years for Double Slaying in Washington

A man convicted of killing two men, one of whom was struck when a bullet went through the intended target, has been sentenced to 75 years in prison.

Twenty-three-year-old Arvel Crawford of Washington was sentenced Friday in Superior Court in Washington. He was convicted in February of first- and second-degree murder in the 2008 slayings.

Prosecutors say Crawford was in a dispute with 18-year-old Johnquan Wright. Authorities say Crawford shot Wright several time in the back.

Prosecutors say one of the bullets went through Wright and hit 61-year-old Nolan Cooper, a bystander.

Crawford is serving an 18-year sentence for killing his father in 2009 during an attempted robbery. Friday's sentence runs consecutively to that.
