Victim Forced Into Bank, Ordered to Withdraw Cash in Silver Spring

Montgomery County Police are searching for the people who stole money from two victims at a hotel and forced one of them into a bank to withdraw more money in Silver Spring on Thursday.

One victim told authorities he had a string of good luck at the Maryland Live! Casino Wednesday night and won a large sum of money. He then checked into a hotel room at the Courtyard by Marriott located at Cherry Hill Road and Columbia Pike.

Around 6:30 a.m. Thursday, he answered a knock at the door to find three men and a woman who demanded his money. He complied, but they ordered him to get more.

He then called a friend and asked him to come to the hotel.

The second victim was accosted upon arrival, and three of the suspects forced him to a Bank of America in the 11400 block of Columbia Pike.

One suspect stayed with the first victim at the hotel.

While in the bank, the second victim slipped a note to the teller indicating he was being robbed and needed the police.

The teller called 911, but as the three suspects waited outside the bank, they got nervous and fled. They also apparently tipped off the suspect who had remained at the hotel.

That suspect also fled, allowing that victim to escape and call police from a nearby Home Depot.

Details are still emerging in this case, but police are investigating.
