Police called to a report of a downed pedestrian early Sunday morning found a man suffering fatal gunshot wounds.
Officers from Washington’s Fifth District were called to the 100 block of Irving Street NW, next to Washington Hospital Center, at 12:21 a.m., where they found a man lying in the street who had been shot.
Emergency crews took the man to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
The victim has been identified as 20-year-old Kevin Andre Washington of Northwest.

This latest shooting death comes after a 45-year-old man from Capitol Heights was shot and killed in southeast Washington on Friday night.
In all, there have been six shooting deaths in Washington in the past five days.
