Man Falls From Bay Bridge, Dies

Police said a man died when he was thrown from the Chesapeake Bay Bridge after his disabled car was rear-ended.

The Maryland Transportation Authority said the victim, 70, was one of three people pulled from the water below the bridge in separate incidents on Monday.

Authority police spokesman Sgt. Jonathan Green said the man got out of his Honda Accord on the eastbound span.

That's when a large truck hit the car, which knocked the man over the jersey wall and into the water about 50 feet below.

The man was pronounced dead at a local hospital and a passenger was treated for a medical emergency.
