Son Killed Father, Shot Self Near Leisure World: Police

A man shot and killed his 89-year-old father in a Rockville, Maryland, parking lot before shooting himself, police say.

Police are describing the shooting as a domestic-related murder and attempted suicide.

Investigators believe 68-year-old Thomas "Greg" Willey shot and killed his father, Thomas Willey, inside a parked Toyota Prius at the Park & Ride on Norbeck Road near Georgia Avenue.

Greg Willey then shot and injured himself, police said. He is in critical condition, according to police.

Police found a note believed to be written by Greg Willey and a handgun in the car.

The father and son lived together in an apartment at Leisure World, a large senior living community nearby, police said.

The medical examiner's office in Baltimore will conduct an autopsy on Thomas Willey, police say.

Editor's Note: A previous version of this story reported the father killed was 90 years old, per police. Police now say he was 89.
