Man Charged With Fatally Shooting Brother's Dog in Waldorf

Man has been charged after allegedly shooting and killing his brother's pit bull in Waldorf, Md., Wednesday night

A Waldorf, Md., man has been charged after allegedly shooting and killing his brother's pit bull Wednesday night.

The dog's owner called police to a home in the 3700 block of Old Washington Road around 9 p.m. Wednesday, saying he'd left briefly and returned to find his 1-year-old dog with a gunshot wound to the head.

The dog's owner said his brother, 59-year-old William Haight, who lives with him, shot the dog.

Officers arrived and recovered a 410 shotgun from Haight. They found the dog inside his kennel in the house and tried to treat him, but he had already died.

Haight was arrested and charged with cruelty to animals and reckless endangerment.
