Man Charged With Killing of Howard Student

William Knight charged with first-degree murder

Prince George's County Police have charged a 20-year-old D.C. man with the murder of a Howard University student.

William Knight of Northeast was charged with first-degree murder in the death of Alonzo Guyton, 24.

Police discovered Guyton suffering from gunshot wounds shortly after midnight Tuesday  in front of his off-campus apartment in the 4200 block of Kaywood Drive in Mount Rainier. Guyton, a former Marine and freshman music major at the University, was pronounced dead at a local hospital a short time later.

Investigators say that Knight's handprint and a gun was found in a blue van that was spotted leaving the scene of the murder by a witness. The van was later involved in a minor car accident in the District, and investigators determined that the vehicle was stolen.

The arrest warrant was served to Knight at the D.C. Jail on Friday. Knight was being held at the jail on a separate, undisclosed charge.
