Man Assaulted, Robbed at Wheaton Station

Metro police took three juveniles into custody after the rush hour incident

A man was robbed and beaten by three juveniles at the Wheaton Metro station during evening rush hour Thursday, Metro Transit Police said.

The incident at the station in Montgomery County started about 5:30 p.m. as a cell phone robbery, and then turned into an assault, police said.

The victim was taken to the hospital with lacerations on his face.

Metro Transit Police arrested all three juveniles. Their ages were not immediately available. Police also recovered the man's cellphone.

Metro police are looking for video of the incident, but will likely not release any footage as the investigation is ongoing, they said.
