Man Arrested in Two SunTrust Robberies

Police arrested a man Tuesday afternoon in connection with two bank robberies in the D.C. area.

Edward Murphy, 51, is accused of robbing a SunTrust Bank in the 4600 block of Old Branch Avenue in Temple Hills, Md., Thursday. Murphy implied he had a weapon and made off with an undisclosed amount of money, police said.

He’s also suspected of robbing a SunTrust Bank in the 100 block of M Street SE of an undisclosed amount of cash about 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, police said. They believe he fled in a blue van. It’s unclear if he had a weapon.

Police found Murphy at home in Prince George's County. He was arrested without incident.
