Man Admits to Fatal Stabbing at Md. Workplace

A man has admitted to killing his roommate and coworker at a Carroll County supermarket just as he was about to stand trial.

The Carroll County Times reports that 26-year-old Zamani Lawson pleaded guilty Monday to voluntary manslaughter in the June death of Bergari Zardiashuili.

He's scheduled to be sentenced in April.

Authorities say Lawson stabbed Zardiashuili multiple times during a fight in the storage area of Martin's supermarket in Eldersburg. Police recovered a kitchen knife while searching outside the store and arrested Lawson after finding him near the store entrance with a blood-stained shirt.

Lawson, who is originally from Jamaica, N.Y., had been sharing a room with Zardiashuilli in the basement of their supervisor's home in Eldersburg.

A trial was scheduled to start Tuesday in Carroll County
