Jackknifed Tractor Trailer Spills Magazines on Beltway

A jackknifed tractor trailer spilled bundles of magazines across the Capital Beltway's Inner Loop, snarling traffic for hours Tuesday morning.

Drivers encountered major delays after Connecticut Avenue (Exit 33) in Maryland while three of four lanes were blocked during crash cleanup.

Four tow trucks were called to the scene.

The magazine bundles included issues of the New Yorker, Montgomery County Fire & Rescue said. They spilled from the crumpled tractor trailer across the roadway and shoulder.

The scene was finally cleared about 10:30 a.m., but delays remained.

Elsewhere on the Beltway, one person died in a single-vehicle crash Tuesday morning on the Outer Loop.
