MGM National Harbor officials say more than 50,000 people visited the new resort and casino during its first days of operation from Thursday to Sunday night.
MGM National Harbor opened its doors to the public on Dec. 8, kicking things off with an opening night gala with special guests and entertainment.
Twice during opening weekend, the resort reached capacity and had to close its doors to guests. The resort closed briefly Thursday within less than an hour of its doors opening. Then on Friday, MGM warned visitors without reservations that they come another weekend instead.
Officials say they anticipate thousands more visitors to come in the next several weeks as the resort begins hosting numerous entertainments acts.
