A soldier who grew up in Baltimore died in Afghanistan on Thursday.
Specialist Jameel Freeman, age 26, was killed while deployed, his family told WBAL.
He was a graduate from Walbrook High School in west Baltimore, and was a dedicated martial artist.
"He was very disciplined," Del Ali Rawlings, a family friend told WBAL. "He showed a lot of integrity. He was a good family man who cared for his children very much."
He leaves behind his wife and two children. Freeman's 4-year-old daughter had her birthday on the same day that he died.
