Orange Line Delays Continue

Major delays continue on Metro's Orange Line as crews continue to deal with a derailed piece of equipment on the tracks.

At about 4:30 a.m., a piece of equipment called a vacuum truck that was being used for overnight track work derailed.

A wheel popped off the track near the Courthouse Metro Station as the equipment was on its way back to the West Falls Church rail yard. No one was injured.

Crews are still removing the equipment and then have to inspect the track for damage before returning to normal service.

Trains are being single-tracked between the Clarendon and Foggy Bottom Metro stations.

Orange Line riders should expect at least a 40-minute delay.  Metro said it did not know how long until the incident is cleared.
