Capital Bikeshare users in the District will now be able to unlock rental bikes using the Lyft mobile app, the company said.
The ride-hailing company said Friday that it was integrating the bikeshare service into its app and will soon add information from public transportation agencies in Alexandria, Virginia, Prince George's County, Maryland, and Fairfax County.
The company said the Lyft app will now feature scooter and bike rental information in addition to its standard ride-hailing options.
It will also add service details from the D.C. Metro's rail and bus services, the D.C. Circulator, Fairfax County's Connector, Prince George's County's The Bus and Alexandria's DASH.
Lyft said the D.C. area will be the first metropolitan region to have its app offer multiple forms of transportation.
"It will be the first city where a rider can choose a scooter, a bike, or even for the first time public transit all in the Lyft app," a spokesperson said.
Lyft acquired ownership of CaBi's parent company, Motivate, last year, and most recently expanded bikeshare to Falls Church, totalling 550 stations in the area.
