Lumber Barn Burns in Libertytown

www.vintagelumber.com/A warehouse storing recovered lumber from old barns burned to the ground on Wednesday.

Multiple fire companies worked to contain a fire at a building owned by Vintage Lumber in Libertytown, Md.  Over 30 firefighters were on the scene.

The company collects and refinishes old wood reclaimed from barns and agricultural buildings around the region.

The cause of the fire was not immediately determined, but the building that burned did contain a kiln that was used to dry out wood.  Emergency services were contacted shortly after 7:00 a.m.

One person received minor injuries in the fire fighting effort and went to Frederick Memorial hospital for treatment.

The isolated location of the storage building was not near any fire hydrants.  Water was hauled in for the firefighting effort with a tanker truck.

Frederick County Emergency Services spokesman Michael Dmuchowski said the building is a total loss.
