A Loudoun County teacher’s aide has been charged with assaulting a 12-year-old student, the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office said Friday.

Leopoldo A. Cabrales, 65, allegedly assaulted the student while in class at Sterling Middle School back on March 27. The student received minor injuries.

Cabrales, of South Riding, Virginia, was charged Friday with assault and battery, a class 1 misdemeanor.

He has been released by a Loudoun County Magistrate on a $5,000 unsecured bond.
