Loudoun County Teacher Arrested for Public Intoxication at School

A Loudoun County, Virginia, teacher was arrested Friday for public intoxication and having an open container of alcohol inside an elementary school, police say.

An employee at Sterling Elementary School told a Loudoun Sheriff’s Office School Resource Officer shortly before 2 p.m. that a teacher was possibly intoxicated.

Police determined the teacher, 25-year-old Claire M. Bucher, of Potomac Falls, was intoxicated and had alcohol in her possession while on school property.

Bucher was charged with being drunk in public and possessing or drinking an alcoholic beverage in a public school or on public school grounds during school hours.

As of 8 p.m., Bucher was still being held at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center until she became sober, police said.
