Local Victim of Spanish Train Derailment to Be Laid to Rest Tuesday

Ana-Maria Cordoba, one of 79 people killed in last month's deadly train derailment in Spain, will be laid to rest Tuesday.

The 47-year-old's funeral will be held at Saint Ambrose Catholic Church on Woodburn Road in Annandale. Her wake was Monday afternoon at the Fairfax Memorial Funeral Home.

Cordoba was visiting Spain with her husband and daughter when the train they were traveling on derailed in Santiago de Compostela. Excessive speed was the cause. The train was moving at more than 120 mph, about 70 mph over the speed limit.

Cordoba's husband and daughter were also hurt in the crash.
