IMPROVE TEST SCORES
Gazette: "All it took was for Principal Benjamin OuYang to pump his fist after receiving a phone call last summer, and his staff knew he had the news they had been waiting for. Parkland Middle School had met its scoring goals for the Maryland School Assessment tests annual exams in math and reading. After two years, the Aspen Hill school would be taken off Montgomery County Public Schools’ corrective action list."

CHAIN SAW ATTACK
Fredericksburg.com: "A Springfield man was hit on the head with a baseball bat and arrested on charges that he attacked a Stafford County man with a chain saw, police said. Stafford Sheriff's Maj. David Decatur said the incident began about 11:45 p.m. Monday on Barclay Lane in Stonebridge of Widewater subdivision. A 44-year-old Stafford man reported that another man was yelling and banging on his door. The resident said the man cursed him and told him to come outside."

ARUNDEL SLOTS 2012

Washington Post: "The developer of Maryland’s largest planned slots casino pledged to a state panel Monday that Maryland Live! at Arundel Mills mall will open its doors to the public in June 2012. The venue has been dealt a number of setbacks since Cordish Cos. first put in a bid in 2009 to construct a 4,750-machine facility in the parking lot across from the food court of the outlet mall in Anne Arundel County."
