AFTER A MONTH, POLICE HAVE FEW CLUES
Fairfax police are still looking for the person who killed 19-year-old Vanessa Pham.  Pham, of Falls Church, was found dead in her crashed vehicle near Arlington Boulevard and Williams Drive on June 27. The crash happened at about 3:30 p.m. She had suffered multiple stab wounds to her torso, police said.  (Washington Examiner)

WHO'S PAYING FOR THE PARADE?
Everybody loves a parade. But nobody wants to pay the bill. That’s the dilemma facing city officials and parade organizers at the dawn of this new fiscal year, a time when the Scottish Walk and the St. Patrick’s Day Parade are facing steep new fees from the city and facing existential questions about the future. SKATEBOARDING BANNED
As soon as it opened a few weeks ago, the pristine new Silver Spring civic center and plaza quickly became a mecca for dozens of skateboarders who made the daily trek downtown to perform their tricks and flips for crowds of onlookers. But county officials Monday banned the boarders from the plaza, saying it is already showing undue wear-and-tear from the wheels of skateboards grinding and scraping along the de facto obstacles found in the rink.(Gazette)

FIRST BLAIR WITCH, NOW SPEEDERS
The 2010 Chevy Silverado left a path of destruction through the west side of Burkittsville , crumpling a 19th-century iron fence and knocking down two telephone poles before crashing through a second fence and coming to rest in a field.
