DORM ROBBERY

Towson University police were searching for two men who robbed students at gunpoint in their dorm room Monday afternoon. According to a campus crime alert, police said two students were in their dorm room in Glen Tower B, a co-ed residence hall, about 3:30 p.m. when they responded to a knock at the door and two men forced their way inside. During the incident, one of the men suffered a minor injury in the forehead when he was struck with a metal crowbar. (Baltimore Sun)

KIDS AND YOGA
Students at Central Elementary School don't just sit -- they bounce. Since November, an increasing number have been swapping their desk chairs for exercise balls -- the big, brightly colored ones usually used for yoga and Pilates. Teachers said they provide an outlet for students' excess energy and help them concentrate in class. (The Capital)

SAVING THE FISH
Some say a bad day fishing is better than a good day at work. Five volunteers took time off from work Friday to do a little fishing. But in this case, they were not catching fish for sport. They were searching for fish stranded in canals left by Potomac River flooding a week earlier. (Frederick News Post)

PW HOTEL ROBBERY
Newly released surveillance video shows a hotel employee on the floor after an armed man robbed her of cash earlier this year. Police say they hope someone recognizes the man who robbed the Quality Inn at 10653 Balls Ford Road near Manassas, Va. about 7:35 p.m. Jan. 22. The robber brandished a handgun and demanded cash from a 22-year-woman working behind the hotel front desk. The man pulled out a plastic bag he brought with him and kept the gun on the victim. The clerk grabbed a set of keys and unlocked a cash drawer. With the keychain still dangling from the lock, the woman took the cash drawer and emptied its contents into the man's plastic bag, surveillance video showed. (InsideNoVa.com

ILLEGAL GAMES?
County police have seized five instant bingo games from an Elks Lodge in Laurel as part of an investigation into what they said are illegal slot machines in the area. No charges have been filed in the March 9 raid, but the county has agreed to let an independent lab evaluate the five "New Fruit Bonus" machines and determine if they comply with state law, according to court documents. A hearing is scheduled for April 7. The owners of the machines filed court documents March 12 seeking the immediate return of the devices, vehemently arguing that they are legal. (The Capital)

SPEED LIMIT, 70.
On any given day, the flow of traffic on Virginia's interstates reaches an average speed of 70 mph. After July, traveling that fast could be legal. The Virginia Department of Transportation will start to raise the speed limit from 65 to 70 mph on sections of Virginia's 1,130 miles of interstate this summer. Interstate 95 will be among the highways eligible for a higher speed limit. A bill passed by the Virginia General Assembly, and signed by Gov. Bob McDonnell, authorizes the change. It goes into effect July 1. (Fredericksburg.com)
