Local Graduates: When Will Barack Obama Give Us Jobs?

Obama Administration refuses to employ all college graduates

As all 2009 college graduates know, college has failed them.

They were supposed to purchase their B.A.'s in psychology or sociology and immediately get Wall Street jobs trading stocks or bonds or hamburgers or whatever for millions of dollars. But then Wall Street was smashed to pieces by a herd of velociraptors one afternoon last fall, killing the last remaining American jobs -- even in PR and law!

Even *Emily Petro* can't find a job, the Washington Post reports.

Emily Petro, 22, of Allentown, Pa., said she applied to more than 40 companies. The public communication major interned at Global Events Partners during the fall and spring of her senior year at American University. She said she used job search sites including Monster.com, Career Builder, Craigslist and Career America, but nothing came of it.

Ugh. Now what? Anyone got any plan?

What about this so-called "Barack Obama" all the kids voted for last November? Clearly he has not fulfilled his promise to hire them all. But many local students are adopting the sympathetic, "hey, the guy's got a full plate" attitude.

Many, like Brittany Lewis, 21, of Dover, Del., hope President Obama's message of change will translate into a better job market and a stable future. Lewis, who graduated from Howard last week and hasn't found a job, has interned at five news organizations, including WTTG (Channel 5), VH1, Vital Marketing and the American Federation of Government Employees. "I'm just hoping Obama comes to save us," she said with a half-smile.

Otherwise, we're voting Nader.

White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel, however, is telling the kids to deal with it "rise to the occasion."

But Where. Are. All. The. OBAMA JOBS?
