Local Federal Officer Sentenced for Sex Crimes

A Federal Protective Services police officer from Waldorf, Md., was sentenced to 55 years in prison Tuesday after being convicted of raping a 15-year-old family member, according to the Charles County State’s Attorney’s Office.

Clayton Calvin Griffin, Jr., 43, was found guilty by a jury in May of sexual child abuse, sexual solicitation of a minor, incest and third degree sex offense.

Text messages from Griffin to the female victim were introduced at trial in which Griffin talked about previous sexual encounters and asked for permission to perform a specific sex act, according to the State’s Attorney’s Office.

The State’s Attorney’s Office said Griffin’s attorney maintained his innocence during his sentencing and that Griffin began to quietly cry as he heard he was receiving the maximum sentence allowed by law for his crimes.
