Loaded Gun Found in Carry-on at Dulles

Alexandria man facing weapons charge

Transportation Security Administration officers stopped a man at Dulles International Airport Monday after he tried to bring a loaded gun through the security checkpoint.

An officer spotted the gun inside the man's carry-on bag as it went through the X-ray machine. Police removed what they say was a 9mm Beretta handgun loaded with nine rounds of ammunition.

The TSA says there were no interruptions to airport operations. At this point the man has only been identified as being from Alexandria, Va. He's now facing a weapons charge.

Firearms, including parts and ammo, are never allowed in carry-on bags. Some airlines do allow you to check them they're properly packed, unloaded and declared. You can read about the TSA's firearm policy here.
