Lenny Harris Suspect Linked to Two Other Slayings

Robbery apparent motive for killings

One of the three men arrested in the death of Alexandria community activist Lenny Harris was charged in connection to two other slayings, Prince George’s County police announced.

Police linked 26-year-old Tyrone Lewis to the death of taxi driver in January 2005 and the slaying of a 17-year-old walking home in October 2011. Robbery appeared to be the motive in each of those deaths.

Kelvin Walker was an accomplice in one case, police said. Walker is in custody in Charles County accused of a home invasion.

Lewis, 29-year-old Ivan Newman and 49-year-old Linwood Johnson are suspected in the death of Harris, who disappeared in September. His body was found in a well in Prince George’s County in January. He had been shot.

Investigators have been working since January to get the warrants obtained Monday morning.
