Lawmakers Expand “Blankets for Refugees” Collection

Pinnacle Academy Students Help Kick Off Drive

Students from Pinnacle Academy in Fairfax County helped kick off a huge humanitarian effort in Northern Virginia.

Lawmakers from several jurisdictions announced this year's effort to collect blankets for refugees from Iraq and Syria, who were forced to flee their homes and are now living in Turkey.

Blankets are being collected at several government buildings in Northern Virginia.

Scott York, the chairman of the Loudoun County board of supervisors challenged each resident in his county to donate a blanket.
