Landscaper Fatally Hit by School Bus in Virginia

A landscaper has died after being hit by a school bus in Northern Virginia.

The crash happened Wednesday morning on Old Carolina Road near Piedmont Vista Drive in Haymarket, Prince William County Police said. No students were on the bus at the time.

Investigators say 53-year-Eusebio Joya Castro of Aldie was standing behind a landscaping truck that was stopped in the right travel lane. He was wearing a reflective vest and setting up a sign when he and the truck were struck by a Prince William County school bus.

Castro was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the landscaping truck, a 62-year-old man from Chantilly, was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries after rescuers pulled him from the cab.

A third worker was not hurt.

The men had been preparing to mow and landscape the area, police said.
