Kent County Schools Cleared After Bomb Threat

No explosive devices found

It was a frightening day for students on Maryland's Eastern Shore after a bomb threat forced evacuations.

A handwritten note was discovered on a side door of Kent Middle School about 8 a.m. Tuesday in Chestertown. It said bombs were placed inside all of the county’s seven schools and would detonate.

As a precaution, three area private schools also were informed of the threat.

They also decided to close for the day and requested police bomb sweeps of their facilities, too.

Ten schools in total were searched through the afternoon. No explosive devices were found.

There’s still no word on who wrote the note. An investigation continues.
