Keeping You Covered at the Inauguration

Company will provide insulating blankets for Inaugural Parade participants

With forecasts for Tuesday's inauguration calling for temperatures in the low 30s, a California company will pitch in to keep people participating in the parade warm.

AFMInc, a designer of insulating devices used to protect astronauts and marathon runners, has teamed up with the Presidential Inaugural Committee to distribute special heat-reflecting plastic blankets to parade participants.

These insulating blankets, which are made from a low-density polyethylene, are designed to trap 90 percent of a person's body heat and protect them from wind, snow and rain.

Members of the Presidential Inaugural Committee will collect the blankets from participants once the parade is over and will ship them to another company so that the material can be reused.
