Judge Dismisses Md. Illegal Immigrant Tuition Suit

A Maryland judge has dismissed a lawsuit that challenged Montgomery College’s immigrant tuition policy.

Montgomery College offers in-county tuition rates to all recent graduates of Montgomery County public schools.

Judicial Watch, a D.C.-based conservative watchdog group, filed a lawsuit against the school in January, saying the practice of offering the reduced rates to illegal immigrants violates state and federal law.

On Thursday, a state judge threw out the complaint ruling that it is improper for private citizens to bring such action.

The lawsuit was brought after Maryland Delegate Patrick L. McKonough's said an audit of the school suggested its policy had cost taxpayers millions of dollars.
