Police in Washington are asking for the public's help in recovering a pair of ivory elephant tusks stolen from the Wilson Building.
Officers said Wednesday that the set of ivory elephant tusks were stolen between Aug. 12 and Aug. 27. The tusks were a gift to the city from Ethiopian Emperor Haile Selassie I in 1954.
If information provided to DC Crime Solvers leads to an arrest and indictment, the caller will be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000. Anyone with information is urged to call police at 202-727-9099.
The John A. Wilson building on Pennsylvania Avenue in northwest Washington houses the offices and chambers of the mayor and D.C. Council.
