It's a Boy! Now It Needs a Name

National Zoo holds contest to name baby giant anteater

WASHINGTON -- The giant anteater born at the National Zoo last month is a boy, and now it's time to give him a name.

He's still riding his mother Maripi's back. How 'bout the Lone Ranger?

Not so fast. The National Zoo is shrewd and doesn't want our suggestions or yours.

(Thankfully. Look at what y'all came up with last week for the Obamas' dog.)

Instead, you can vote on one of four names: Cyrano, Pablo, Armando or Hector. The winning name will be announced April 29.

During a veterinary exam last week, zookeepers determined the little guy's sex and weighed him at about 5.5 pounds.
