It Pays To Car Pool

If you can stand a few extra minutes with your co-workers, then you could make a few bucks

Sharing a ride to work could soon pay off – literally.

A program called Commuter Connections is expanding in the Washington area. They pay people $2 a day.  Sure, it isn't much, but it could pay for a cup of gas station coffee.

This started as a pilot program last fall. The group rewarded drivers who took three specific routes. Now the expanded program will apply to everyone who forms a new carpool in the D.C. area.

There is a limit on how much you can make. Carpoolers can get paid up to $130 over a three-month period.

In order to get the cash, participants must regularly report their travel time through an online system.

If you and your driving buddies work the graveyard shift, then sorry, you are not eligible. Commuter Connections only pays out to commuters who travel during peak hours.
