Iraqi Students Who Visited VCU Reported Missing

Three Iraqi students attending an exchange program at Virginia Commonwealth University last month were reported missing before the group returned home.

VCU spokeswoman Pam Lepley told the Richmond Times-Dispatch that university police investigated and determined no foul play was involved. The newspaper said it was unclear whether one of the three college-age males rejoined the group before they flew home last weekend.

The 25 students were in Richmond for the Iraqi Young Leaders Exchange Program. VCU Police received a missing persons report July 30.

FBI and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials declined to discuss the case, and representatives of the nonprofit group that administers the exchange program did not return phone calls.
