Fairfax County police have identified the inmate who died while in custody at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.
Kelly Maurice Scott, 53, of Herndon was found unresponsive in his cell Saturday morning. Efforts to revive Scott failed and he was pronounced dead, police said.
Police said Scott had been incarcerated at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center since Sept. 15, 2015 and was assigned to a unit where inmates are checked every 30 minutes.
Nothing about Scott's death appears suspicious, but a routine investigation is being conducted, police said.
Police said the medical examiner will determine Scott's cause and manner of death.
